Do keep your hands clean.
Make sure to wash your hand thoroughly and often this season. You’d be surprised by how much hand washing can reduce your risk of contracting disease. Don’t have soap and water on hand? Use hand sanitizer with an alcohol content of at least 60 percent.
Don’t delay in getting your flu shot.
It’s not too late to get your flu shot. The vaccine can significantly reduce your risk of getting the flu this season. While the flu shot is safe for most people, double check with your doctor to make sure it’s appropriate for your health needs.
Do stock up on supplies.
When you’re feeling under the weather, the last thing you want to do is go to the store to pick up medicine. Make sure you have some over-the-counter medications to help ease symptoms. Also, be sure to have plenty of tissues, tea, and chicken noodle soup.
Don’t ignore the symptoms.
Lots of ailments have similar symptoms, but that shouldn’t mean that you belittle your symptoms. Be sure to keep in mind that cold and flu symptoms are very similar, but the flu seems to be a bit more severe. Look out for fever, chills, muscle aches, cough, congestion, runny nose, headaches, and fatigue.
Do stay home if you’re not feeling well.
Not only will you help contain germs and prevent others from getting sick, but you’ll help your immune system fight off the virus. Give your body rest and you’ll be on the road to recovery much faster.
